In 2021 Professor Peter Lim, the founder of the Society for Singapore & the Society for Men’s Health noted the alarming rise in Prostate Cancer in Singapore. The Prevalence rate was 3.2 per 100, 000 in Singapore in the year 1978 and today it exceeds 21 per 100,000. In the USA it is about 33 per 100,000. With the affluence & first world Status, Singapore is fast approaching Western rates of getting Prostate Cancer. The Gold standard of Treatment for the curable cases i.e. those in Stage I or Stage II is current Robot Assisted Radical Prostatectomy. Although the latter has improved the bad & sometimes tragic complication rates of Open Prostatectomy, the robotic prostatectomy still gives an alarming high rate of between 70-90 percent of Erectile Dysfunction & up to 70% of some degree of Urinary Stress Incontinence. Since Prof Lim started the Artificial Urinary Sphinceter implant for the sufferers of Incontinence in the past using the Continence Society & treated those with ED via his Society for Men’s Health, he has been searching for another way of treating this main Cancer affecting men with the complications mentioned.
